It's from Texas, and itzbig: Austin Start-Up Challenges the Resume "Black Hole" with New Online Web 2.0 Application

Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 6, 2007 -- Allowing for anonymous real-time evaluation of the market demand for your job skills, the career experts at itzbig think they've created the perfect Plan B for "quiet working professionals."

The most common frustration of anyone looking for a job on the Internet: Spending, what seems like hours, cutting and pasting a carefully crafted resume into some hideous, confusing, online corporate ATS - applicant tracking system -- pushing the "submit" button, and then waiting, and waiting for ... nothing. Not even a "thanks."

A new, Austin, Texas based career web site is set to change the game. Not just for job seekers, but for professional recruiters as well. Developed by recruiting industry veterans Jim Hammock and Hank Stringer, (from Hire.com), with the coding expertise of Chief Technology Officer, Assad Kahn, itzbig.com has the potential of solving many of the most exasperating, time consuming horrors of looking for a job; or looking for a qualified job candidate.

Jim Hammock, chairman and CEO of itzbig (http://www.itzbig.com/index.html) was recently interviewed by Peter Clayton on Total Picture Radio (http://www.totalpicture.com/) a popular career podcast. Clayton asked if "itzbig has cracked the passive candidate code?" Hammock responded, "I think it has, we've been working with what we call passive candidates twelve years at hire.com, and we perfected that, we now call them quiet working professionals. The reason is, today we think every working professional needs a 'plan B.' With the outsourcing, off-shoring, the mergers, the acquisitions, you never know when you're going to need another position. So our concept is come in anonymously, profile your capabilities, and what you'd be looking for, and then let the system go out constantly and look for jobs? and if you have to change jobs, you don't start from zero. You know exactly who the top five companies are, you know how you would score and rank today and whether you're apt to get the kind of job you're looking for."

On a high-profile recruiting industry web site, ERE.net, Kevin Wheeler (http://www.ere.net/articles/db/1B4F49942966456AA92612D5C8CD949F.asp?ARSRC=FTOF) president of Global Learning Resources, referred to itzbig as "A Sourcing Network on Steroids."

What itzbig has accomplished is no small feat. If you are not familiar with the term, a passive candidate, or in Jim Hammock's vocabulary, "a quiet working professional," is a happily employed executive or manager who is not looking for a job. "These are exactly the people recruiters try to hire," according to Clayton. "If you have your resume plastered all over the large job boards, chances are recruiters (especially agency recruiters), won't touch you. And chances are very good you're getting spammed to death."

Recruiters love itzbig because they can use the built-in evaluation tools to score candidates in the system, and then use this knowledge to only reach-out to those who meet their qualifications. Candidates love itzbig, because they can anonymously enter their credentials in the system, and instantly see - in real time - what jobs they qualify for - and only disclose their identity to those employers they're interested in contacting.

"What itzbig has done," Clayton said, "has made the evil, hated applicant tracking system transparent, so it's equally beneficial to the employer and job candidate."

Itzbig is currently focused on professional level jobs in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas, with plans to expand itzbig.com to Silicon Valley this fall. A number of Texas area employers are using itzbig, including Raytheon, AMD, Wayport, Applied Materials, and rackspace.
